I decided that it might help my trouble with description if I practiced writing descriptive paragraphs. I started by first writing a description of a character and then writing a physical description of a location. Like most things, it went slightly awry. I found that my physical descriptions became poems. \u00a0I wrote poetry long, long , long before I wrote prose. \u00a0During what seems like a different life. I tried to get back to it just before I started to write prose but it wouldn’t come. Well, now it is coming. Below is one of the pieces with the picture which inspired it.<\/p>\n

\"WPFan<\/a>The slow descent, rib slowly meeting rib,
\nSpaces between shrinking, shrinking, excruciatingly slow,
\nSteel planks, grey in the grey day, graceful in their fall.
\nBuildings behind, distanced by
\nSpines breaking solid lines, the fixed across,
\nBreaking the soaring up by
\nThe geometric precision of the closing fan.
\nAt rest now, the buildings loom above a simple bridge.<\/p>\n
